Masters Degree in Special Education
Endorsements: LD and ZS (Early Childhood Special Education)
I teach K-3 Special Education and this is my 8th year here at Glen Lake. I can’t put into words how excited I was to be able to teach where I once went to school. A 1997 graduate of Glen Lake, I was born and raised just outside of Empire. After college, I moved to Colorado for a few years. I enjoyed my years in the Rockies, but was happy with the decision to move back to my roots and pursue a career in Special Education. I earned a Master’s of Arts in Education from the University of Phoenix in Cross Categorical Special Education.
My daughter and I have a home snuggled between the beautiful Leelanau and Grand Traverse counties. I love coming to work every day and I love that no two days are ever the same. For me, education is about teaching students the importance of learning and empowering them to be able to face all that life has to offer. I take every opportunity to relate skills to functional, life situations. It’s not always about knowing the right answer but rather knowing how to find the answer. I’m a strong believer in the power of humor and use it daily to reach students as well as to make learning fun. My motto: The true measure of success in life isn’t money, fame or power; it’s laugh lines!
