Senora Pina graduated from Oakland University in Elementary Education, and taught in an American school in Santo Domingo, the Dominican Republic, for 4 years. She met her future husband there, and they both went to grad school at the University of Illinois with a major in Special Ed. She taught special education and then 6th grade in Champaign, Illinois. After a move to Michigan, Senora stayed home to raise their children, but returned to teaching in 2007. She's been teaching Elementary Spanish since then. After taking the Spanish test through the state of Michigan, she achieved "highly qualified" status, and began teaching Middle School Spanish courses as well. She has enjoyed traveling to several countries in Latin America, and is especially interested in the art and music of the people living in the Andes mountains of South America.
