Born Nov. 14th, 1970 in Traverse City, Michigan. Grew up in Suttons Bay, Michigan, the 4th of 5 children (3 sisters, 1 brother) to Jim and Donna Herman. Graduated from Suttons Bay High School in 1989, where he was yearbook editor (1988-89), sports editor (1986-88), captain of the football team, co-captain of the basketball team, and a 3-year letterman in baseball/football. All-Northwest Conference selection in baseball and football. Winner of the Martin M. Martinson Citizenship Award. Graduated from Central Michigan University...president of Sigma Tau Gamma fraternity (1993), while also serving as Pledge Education Chair and Athletic Director at various times.

Teaching career began at Blissfield High School (near Adrian, MI) in 1995. Left Blissfield to accept current position at Glen Lake High School in 1997. Currently teaching AP Comparative Government and Politics, AP U.S. Government and Politics, AP U.S. History, American Studies, Economics and Civics...has also taught World History (13 years), Geography, Current Events and Sociology.

Entering 24th season as a baseball coach, including assistant at Blissfield High School (1995-1997) and Glen Lake High School (1998-2003). Head Baseball Coach at Glen Lake High School (2004-present). JV football coach at Shepherd High School (1993-1994), assistant football coach at Blissfield High School (1995-1996). JV assistant football coach at Glen Lake (1997-1998), JV head coach (1999-2002), varsity head coach (2003) and varsity assistant coach (2006).

Married to Rebecca Vogt in 2003, with two daughters: Amanda (8) and Faith (3).
