Matthew Soltysiak teaches Spanish at the secondary level. He has also taught Broadcasting and Current Events here at Glen Lake. Matthew found his way to Glen Lake after teaching in Traverse City, New Jersey and before that in the west African nation of Cameroon while serving our country as a Peace Corps volunteer.
Being a teacher is actually Matthew’s third career. Before entering the world of education, he spent multiple years in the airline industry working at the nation’s capital while attending the University of Maryland. He later completed a Master’s degree at Syracuse University, becoming a news reporter, then a sports reporter and anchor for the local NBC affiliate in northern Michigan. He still puts those skills to use announcing Laker sporting events.
Matthew has studied in Mexico, Cuba and the Dominican Republic. He loves to travel and learn about different cultures. He and his wife enjoy living here in northern Michigan with their twin daughters.
