Dina Rocheleau (Middle School Principal)

Dina Rocheleau

BIO

One of my favorite sayings is, Cognitive function is built on emotional platforms. Supporting the whole child is something important from birth through high school. It’s an honor to be part of a community that believes that cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development all go hand in hand in ensuring each student has an exceptional school experience.

Prior to my family moving to the Glen Lake Community, I was part of the Ferndale School Family for 18 years. 7 years as the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum & Instruction and 11 years as the Principal for Roosevelt Primary School, a National School of Character recipient. Prior to Ferndale, I worked as an Early Childhood Special Education Consultant for Oakland Schools Intermediate School District; Assistant Principal and a Varying Exceptionality teacher with Pinellas County Schools in Pinellas County Florida. I have had the opportunity to be an adjunct professor at Eastern Michigan University for both undergrad and graduate programs. I have been an active Michigan Playworks Board Member for many years supporting safe, inclusive play for all children. The past few years I have been an active member of the Social Emotional Learning State Committee to support schools across our state.

My education background includes University of South Florida (BA), Nova Southeastern University (MA), and completed all coursework towards her PHD @ Capella University (PHD, Abd).

As a passionate leader I find it imperative to be an advocate supporting staff, students, families and community. I truly love to share my life’s work at national, regional, and state conferences and provide professional development opportunities for many districts in support of Social Emotional Learning, Multi-tiered Systems of Support, Equitable quality Systems, District/School Improvement planning, and ensuring a positive school culture.

My best work hands down is being a mother to two pretty cool children - Bryanne and Dawsyn.
