Assessment at Glen Lake School

AIMSweb – grades K - 1 and grades K - 5
K-1 for benchmark 3 times a year and K-5 for progress monitoring.

Northwest Evaluation Association (NWEA) Map Growth – grades 2 - 5  and  grades 6 - 8
Grades 2-5 for benchmark assessments in Reading and Math three times a year.  Grades 6-8 tested on achievement in the Fall and Spring.

Michigan Student Test of Educational Progress (M-STEP) – grades 3 - 8, 11
The M-STEP is a test given primarily online each spring and is designed to gauge how well students are mastering state standards.

Delta Math Readiness Screeners – grades 1-5
Assesses the preprequisite skills needed for grade-level mathematics and guides math enrichment and intervention activities.

Mi-PHY – grades 7, 9, and 11 biannually (even years)
The MiPHY is a test designed to help improve the management of Michigan’s Safe and Drug Free Schools Program in conjunction with the Michigan Department of Education and the Michigan Department of Community Health.

MI-Access – grades 8 and 11
Mi-Access is Michigan’s alternate assessment based on alternate achievement standards. 

PSAT 8/9 – grades 8 and 9  (two times a year)
PSAT is a curriculum based assessment program developed by CollegeBoard to help eighth and ninth graders develop a high school course plan that prepares them to take the SAT their junior year.  It is normed for their respective age group.

PSAT – grade 10  (two times a year)
The PSAT test is a test that is written and normed by the makers of the CollegeBoard. All sophomores take this test in the fall and again in the spring of their sophomore year in preparation for the SAT. Students are not charged for this test.

PSAT/NMSQT (Fall) – The PSAT/NMSQT is given to sophomores and juniors in mid-October each year. GLCS covers the fee for this assessment. The test is created by the Collegeboard, the creators of the SAT test and is a pre-SAT. A  junior taking this test is entered into a competition through NMSQT to become a National Merit Scholarship candidate.

SAT – grade 11 (Spring) 

The SAT test is created by the CollegBoard and is given in the spring of the junior year. There is no charge for the SAT and students can select up to 4 colleges and universities to send their scores to free of charge. More information can be found at www.collegeboard.org 

AP Testing – grades 11 and 12
Students taking AP classes can opt to pay to take the AP tests in May. In February students are given registration forms and place their orders for AP tests.
