Senior Trip to NYC Day Three: The class of 2024 had quite the busy day! They started with breakfast and a subway ride to the urban park High Line and Chelsea Park. Then they made their way to China Town and Little Italy. Seniors then viewed art at MOMA and toured Radio City Hall, where the students got to meet the Rockettes. After a short shopping break, the seniors went for a magical dinner at Ellen's Stardust Diner. They were not only treated to a delicious meal but amazing entertainment as well. Seniors then had their picture taken in Times Square and went to see the Broadway musical The Outsiders. Not only was the musical incredible but many of the students had an opportunity to meet actress, Angelina Jolie. The day ended with a walk through Times Square and back to the hotel.

Students in our Intro to Engineering & Robotics ended their 9 week rotation with a Putt Putt Project. From initial design on paper to the final project, students had to design a Putt Putt Course. Today they got to play all the courses and see how their Engineering Minds work! Project based instruction at it's finest! Thank you Mr. Drown for bringing this excitement to our middle school students.

Congratulations! 'Essential Rotations' at Glen Lake Middle School has been awarded the Education Excellence Award from the SET SEG Foundation in partnership with the Michigan Association of School Boards (MASB). Glen Lake Middle School Staff and students received a $2,500 check, a commemorative trophy, and an “Education Excellence Winner” roadside sign. Sign will be placed on Burdickville Road soon! If you'd like to read more about our staff's incredible work please click here in the most recent edition of NAESP's Principal magazine: https://naesp.ygsclicbook.com/pubs/principal/2024/marapr-2024/live/index.html#p=1 The funds will help the staff and students build upon our 'Essential Rotation Classes' to keep them filled with novelty and hands on experiences.

Attention 6th Grade Families, Our 6th grade overnight camp experience is just around the corner and promises to be full of educational fun! Students will head to Leelanau Outdoor Center beginning the morning of May 8 and return to school the afternoon of May 10th! We are so fortunate to have this camp experience right in our own backyard! To make this experience possible we need adult chaperones in each cabin overnight. We need parent volunteers willing to chaperone by spending the night in a cabin. If you are able to do this for one or two nights please let one of us know. You would just need to be present between 8:30 pm and 7:30 am. Parent chaperones are welcome to attend breakfast in the morning at the Great House. Volunteers are required to complete a background check. The form can be accessed on the school’s website. Our goal is to receive commitments by Friday, April 12. Parent volunteers are not needed during the day as all programming will be run by LOC counseling staff. If you are able and willing to help make this a successful trip please email Carrie Brown as soon as possible. Brownc@mylakers.org For any and all medications (Prescription or Over the Counter) we require a Physician's Signature. Please begin this process now so it will be completed prior to attending camp. For medication questions please email, nurse@mylakers.org We will be sending all camp forms, packing lists, and other information when we return from Spring Break! Wishing you well, Dina
