Our middle school students were treated to an incredible assembly today. Artist, Martina Hahn provided students with a wealth of information about the history of the story, The Legend of Sleeping Bear Dunes. The students watched an animated film screening where the story came to life. The film has won multiple awards and was produced by her daughter Johanna Oswald. The film is a love story about Northern Michigan and the Legend of Sleeping Bear Dunes. After the film, she talked about the specific work that it takes to make an animated film. At the end of her presentation she completed a Live Speed Painting. As her board was spinning she was painting quickly using both hands and the canvas came to life with a beautiful image that represented the story. A great surprise at the end was we were able to keep the painting!
